FAQ

Where does the call data come from?

Live calls come from SAPD’s public active-call feed. The City states: addresses are rounded to the hundred block. The calls listed are only those where the element assigned to the call has arrived and is currently working the call. The feed does not include calls, whether currently being worked or not, that are not releasable due to privacy laws. Mapping reflects the general area of the call and may include some local businesses or locations. Calls for service are not lists of crimes. See the City’s Calls for Service FAQ.

Historical records come from SAPD Calls for Service by the City of San Antonio, licensed under CC BY 4.0. We modify that data (filter it, combine it with the live feed, and geocode it). The app is unofficial and is not endorsed by the City or SAPD. Full credit is in the Terms of Service.

Why can’t I sign in?
Use the same username or email and password as the mobile app. A new account can sign in right away. Live calls, the live map, area maps, and the alert inbox need that account. The previous week on the daily map is available before you sign in.
What is free, and what is Premium?
The previous seven days on the daily call map are available with no account. A free account adds the live call list, the live map, city area / ZIP / school maps, last-week stats, the five most recent calls at an address, call-type choices, the alert inbox, and 5 alert notifications each day (9:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Eastern). Those 5 are one shared total across nearby alerts, one city area, one ZIP, and one school. Premium adds today on the daily map, school and school-district filters, stats beyond a week, the full 24-month address history, every matching alert, unlimited city areas, ZIPs, schools, and districts, and drawn alert areas. Alerts past the free daily limit stay in the inbox without call details. See the comparison on the home page.
How do alerts work?
A free account can turn on nearby-call notifications and watch one city area, one ZIP code, and one school. The first 5 notifications each day are delivered, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Eastern, and that count is shared across every alert type. A city-area alert and a nearby alert both use the same 5. Later matches of any type stay in the inbox as a note with no call details and no link. Premium sends every match, watches every city area, ZIP, school, and school district, and adds Custom Alerts (draw your own areas; two shapes are included). Nearby alerts use each signed-in device’s own location and notify that device. Place watches and custom shapes notify all of your devices. The app needs notification permission, and location permission — including background location — if you want nearby alerts while the app is closed. Alerts you receive stay in the inbox so you can mark them read or archive them.
How many devices can I use?
Each account may be signed in on up to 5 devices (phones, tablets, and browsers share that limit). Manage them in the app under Account → Devices or on the website at Account. If you hit the limit, an inactive device (no sign-in for over a week) may be removed automatically; otherwise you must remove a device before signing in elsewhere.
Can my family share Premium?
Premium is an in-app subscription (manage or restore it from Account in the app). Each person needs their own Police Calls account so devices, locations, and alert settings stay separate. Sharing one username counts against the 5-device limit and mixes notifications.
How do I request data deletion?
Sign in from the header, open a new request, and choose the Privacy category with subject “Data deletion request”.

Historical call data: SAPD Calls for Service by the City of San Antonio, licensed under CC BY 4.0. We modify that data. Live calls follow the City’s Calls for Service notes: addresses are rounded to the hundred block; only calls an assigned unit has arrived on and is working; some calls are omitted under privacy laws; the map shows a general area.
